    A council has opened a meals voucher scheme to assist households struggling to pay payments afford meals this summer time.Kent County Council (KCC) mentioned that eligible residents for the summer time meals voucher assist scheme would obtain a one-off fee of £90 to make use of in direction of meals purchasing prices.Purposes are open till 26 August, with the funds, which come from the Family Assist Fund (HSF), served on a primary come, first served foundation.The council confirmed households who acquired free college meals weren’t eligible to use for the scheme, as they have been already supported by their kid’s college with funding from the HSF.The funding comes from the Division for Work and Pensions and is run by the KCC’s Monetary Hardship group.Organisations similar to Residents Recommendation, NHS trusts and housing associations are referring individuals into the scheme, in line with KCC.The authority mentioned {that a} winter assist scheme would comply with later within the 12 months.Candidates may have the choice to decide on between power or meals vouchers, or a mixture of each.KCC chief Linden Kemkaran mentioned: “This funding is for these in want and for many who are combating rising residing prices.”Candidates are reminded that that is taxpayers’ cash, so please spend it properly on meals and important home goods solely.”
