Amidst heightening tensions with China, U.S. President Donald Trump on Thursday insisted that Intel’s CEO, Lip-Bu Tan, should step down, accusing Tan of harboring conflicts of curiosity.
“The CEO of INTEL is very CONFLICTED and should resign, instantly. There isn’t any different answer to this downside. Thanks in your consideration to this downside!” Trump wrote on his social media platform, Reality Social.
Trump didn’t share any proof or particulars of why Tan could have conflicts of curiosity.
Trump’s put up comes after Republican Senator Tom Cotton on Wednesday wrote to Intel’s board of administrators, asking about Tan’s alleged ties to China, his investments within the nation, and raised considerations about his time main Cadence Design Programs, which had a Chinese language navy college as a buyer.
Tan, who took over the helm in March, has been specializing in enhancing effectivity on the chipmaker, which has misplaced floor to firms like Nvidia and AMD within the AI chip race.
