Bobby Beasley was staying in his 1984 Volkswagen T25 Campervan with girlfriend Rach when he took this photograph. The couple have been on the Isle of Harris, within the Outer Hebrides. “We’ve each at all times beloved tenting and getting out to distant spots, ideally on the coast,” Beasley says. “The west coast of Scotland is certainly one of our favorite areas to discover.”On their first morning at Horgabost Campsite, with its views over Luskentyre seaside and its Caribbean-style white sand and turquoise waters, they awoke to a thick sea fret. “Because it burned away and lifted a little, the early morning solar shone by means of from the mountains behind and brought on this crazy-looking ghost rainbow,” Beasley says. The pair didn’t lose their probability at this shot, “therefore why Rach is standing in her pyjamas! I didn’t need to miss the second, particularly because it was positioned so completely over our van.”With that in thoughts, Beasley used the digital camera most instantly at hand: his iPhone 11. He utilized no edits except for cropping to a 4:3 ratio. “I made certain when taking it that I’d put the give attention to Rach and that the sky wasn’t overexposed,” he provides. “I favored having my shadow within the shot, too. It makes for a pleasant triangular composition.”The pair had by no means seen something prefer it earlier than. Whereas the mist caught round for the remainder of the day, casting an ethereal mild on their environment, the ghost rainbow was quickly gone.
