    Snap has acquired Saturn, a calendar app that helps college students handle their faculty schedules and share them with others, the corporate confirmed to TechCrunch on Friday. The monetary phrases of the deal weren’t disclosed. Saturn will proceed to function as a standalone app.

    The information was first reported by Engadget.

    Snap says virtually your entire Saturn workforce is becoming a member of Snap as a part of the acquisition, with slightly below 30 full-time workers approaching board.

    Though Snap didn’t share a lot about its plans for the acquisition, a spokesperson for the corporate advised TechCrunch in an e mail that Snap will convey Saturn’s calendaring experience into Snapchat in revolutionary methods.

    Based in 2018, Saturn reimagines the calendaring expertise by bringing in a social aspect. The thought behind the startup is to permit highschool and faculty college students to attach with their classmates and see which lessons their pals are in with out having to share a bunch of images of various schedules.

    Customers can share their schedules with their pals to see what they’re as much as in actual time and what they’ve arising with a purpose to make plans. Along with lessons, customers can share their schedules for practices, rehearsals, conferences, video games, and extra.

    Snap says that Saturn is utilized by a lot of faculties and that 80% of U.S. excessive faculties have assist for Saturn. Snap believes that Saturn has constructed its success by turning scheduling right into a extra participating and dynamic expertise. The 2 corporations will work collectively to foster extra real-world connections, Snap says.

    Forbes reported in 2021 that Saturn raised $44 million in a funding spherical led by Common Catalyst, Perception Companions, and Coatue, with participation from Bezos Expeditions, Marc Benioff, Dara Khosrowshahi, and Ashton Kutcher and Man Oseary’s Sound Ventures, amongst others.
